Ode to Polyhedral Dice

Another entry from class it is all self-explanatory

Ode to Polyhedral Dice

Bones

Was your ancient name

You were the carrier of prophecy

The messengers of destiny

Speaking the words

Of the divine

With symbols and signs

Offering hope

Confirming fear

Through the mouth of faith

Ivory and Ebony

Short breaths

Kisses at the feet of Lady Luck

You made paupers, kings

Only to put them in their place

When they dared go too far

You are the tools of the world-makers

The arbiter of conflict

Multifaceted and multi-colored like the treasure

You delegate, the lives you create and destroy

All for the sake of adventure

And companionship

Mystery and superstition

Have eternally surrounded you

As if to say

“May the odds always be in your favor.”

I needed something light and fun
